Press Releases Opportunity knocks pay and benefits off the top of the poll - 25 October 2006 Career progression and prospects of promotion are now more important than pay and benefits when it comes to attracting talent. A recent survey conducted by leading recruitment specialist, Brook Street, via www.brookstreet.co.uk website has found the majority of respondents consider opportunities for promotion and moving up the career ladder as the most important factors when searching for a job. This was closely followed by pay and benefits, which was deemed most important by 30% of respondents. People you work with and location also scored highly. However, surprisingly only one in 17 people consider the company profile as an important aspect when job seeking. Erika Bannerman, Brook Street Sales and Marketing Director, says "With unemployment reaching historic low levels, we are now in a primarily applicant driven market and competition for the most talented and qualified employees is high. Employees are asking more of their employers, as people are increasingly thinking about their own long-term career progression, meaning employers are having to work harder to become the employer of choice." "Employers need to offer development opportunities to not only attract staff but also to retain and boost productivity, as workers want to be with companies who will invest in them." |
