Brook Street - Dundee

Press Releases

Ready for a fresh start? - 2 January 2007

Christmas is over and for many of us the post-festive blues are kicking in already!  According to a recent survey on www.brookstreet.co.uk leading recruitment specialist Brook Street's website, 30% of respondents dread the thought of going to work each day; and 29% snooze the alarm in the mornings to put off going to work.  For these people a career change could be well overdue.

"Too many people get caught up in the daily routine of just getting up and going to work without actually evaluating their job progress or their career opportunities," said Erika Bannerman, Sales and Marketing Director, Brook Street.  "Fresh into the new year, people should take time to look at their current job and how well their career goals are being met, and employers need to evaluate whether they can offer more training and support to allow employees to achieve their goals."

"With only 21% of the respondents stating that they actually enjoy going to work, the relationship between employers and employees is critical.  Especially as we are moving in to a market where applicants are in demand and the applicant is King, employers could find their employees jumping ship and looking for career fulfilment elsewhere."

Brook Street operates a face-to-face model where a relationship is continuous from first contact.  This model continues to play a significant role for the applicant and the employer in all recruitment processes.  In order to take the correct recruitment decisions, employers need to make decisions on applicants based on their talent and potential, as well as the relevant hard skills and suitability, to ensure that their needs will be met and they will no longer dread the prospect of going to work.
