ACCOUNT HANDLER - COMMERCIAL LINES

Job Title: Account Handler - Commercial Lines
Reports to: Commercial Lines Manager
Department: Commercial Lines Location: Simpson House
Working Hours: Monday - Friday 9am - 5.30pm
JOB SUMMARY
Key support role to the business. No budget or staff responsibilities.
Mainly office based role. Incoming work to be distributed by the Commercial Lines Manager
Adherence and implementation of Company policies and responsibilities in respect of regulated activities, conduct risk and TCF. Adhere to the FCA regulations and requirements.
There will be regular departmental meetings to discuss administration requirements of the department.
Administration of client's insurance requirements on a daily basis including - general enquiries, renewals, midterm adjustments, obtaining quotations, claims handling and accounting procedures.
Acquire new commercial customers.
Provide expert and prompt advice to new and existing customers regarding their insurance needs.
To provide technical, administrative and customer service support to the Commercial Lines Manager/ Supervisor.
KEY TASKS
Present a professional image of self and Hencilla Canworth Ltd
Deal with incoming enquiries from clients, insurers and other third parties in a professional and timely manner.
Work within agreed authority levels
Review the demands and needs of customer and advise on the most appropriate insurances to meet their demands and needs.
Increase client base wherever possible.

Convert insurance needs to sales
Cross sell insurance wherever possible
Manage and process client new business, renewals, midterm adjustments and lapses in accordance with current procedures and FCA requirements.
Input accurate data onto the back office systems.
Liaise with Insurers and other third parties regarding the administration of client's insurance needs.
Assess, assimilate, analyse and present to insurers and underwriters to achieve risk acceptance at the most advantageous rate.
To prepare customer reports on both new and existing risks to support the commercial lines manager/supervisor.
Taking responsibility for actioning and updating Diary System as directed and within defined time scale.
Attend training courses and events as directed by the company.
KEY RELATIONSHIPS
External : Customers : As required in the course of the sale of insurance products.
Insurance Companies: As required in the course of the sale of insurance products.
Underwriters: As required in the course of the sale of insurance products.
Internal: Commercial Lines Manager: Work allocation, issue resolution, HR issues.
Senior Staff/ Management: Provide Information when requested.
Compliance Officer: Obtain technical advice.
SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES
High level inter personal skills - ability to build successful, mutually beneficial business/client relationships.
Communication skills - able to communicate to people, with various levels of knowledge, over the telephone and in writing.
Ability to work under pressure and to deadlines
Planning, organisational and time management skills.
Problem solving
Computer literate and thorough understanding of company software.

QUALIFICATIONS
O level / GCSE standard of education ( or equivalent)
Ideally studying towards CII examinations but not essential
TECHNICAL EXPERIENCE
Ideally at least 2 years experience in commercial insurance in respect of scheme business
SALARY RANGE
£25,000 - £27,000 depending on experience
23 days holiday
3%/4% pension scheme
