Brook Street (UK) Ltd is delighted to be recruiting on behalf of our accountancy client in Belfast city centre to appoint a Accountant - Internal Auditor for their Belfast team.

This is an excellent chance to join a very well-known and respected financial services client who has been in operation for many years.

You will be responsible for providing accountancy and internal audit services for a broad range of clients across Northern Ireland. Also responsible for assignment planning, designing and conducting audit testing, preparing audit reports and communicating audit findings and recommendations

Key Responsibilities:

* Ensure that all work carried out complies with the firm`s standards and procedures, and that the work is within budget and to the expected timeframes
* Ensure a high-level quality in all work produced (including the review of the work of others in the team, where appropriate) and apply all relevant technical disclosures to client work during the planning phase and ensure all requirements are met (e.g. audit committee deadlines etc)
* Take responsibility for your own work and ensure that files are completed to the standard expected by managers
* Manage time effectively and prioritise work, know when to communicate potential issues to manager, including providing regular progress updates to both manager and client on work being completed and ensure that all time is accurately recorded and maintained on a daily basis
* Prepare accurate, timely and detailed reports, fees and correspondence ready for issue to the client
* Identify technical and business issues specific to a client, ie fraud and risk-related issues, and suggest solutions to the manager / partner
* Develop and maintain positive client relationships using effective, appropriate and timely communication methods
* Lead on audit close-out meetings
* Attend audit committee meetings if required

Essential Criteria

* Qualified Accountant or Part Qualified Accountant or Internal Auditor
* Previous experience of internal audit work
* Strong analytical skills
* The ability to work on your own initiative
* The ability to deliver assignments on time and within budget
* Effective communication skills
* Competent at using Microsoft applications
* Excellent report writing skills and ability to present written reports to a high standard
* Effective team player
* You must be able to undertake and pass security clearance checks where required by clients
* You must have access to a car and be able to travel to client sites for audit fieldwork

Applicants should preferably have an ACCA qualification or have measurable experience with auditing

The salary for this role can be negotiated at interview stage
