Based in Oldham, this manufacturing company is looking for an Accounts Assistant. They are particularly looking for someone who has experience of an ERP system as they are in the process of implementing a new ERP system.
You will be working in a busy accounts office with 2 other accounts staff. . This role is varied, covering all aspects of accounts. A flexible approach to working is essential as, at busy times, additional hours may need to be worked to meet deadlines and commitments.
Responsibilities within the role will include:
Data entry onto bespoke accounting and job management software
Maintenance of the purchase ledger to include the reconciliation of balances to supplier statements, ensuring invoices are processed in a timely manner, arranging the monthly BACS payment to suppliers and raising / following up queries with colleagues and suppliers as required
Maintenance of the sales ledger to include the reconciliation of balances, raising of invoices via the job management system and liaising with customers to resolve queries raised
Processing invoices through customers online portals, training will be provided on these systems
Maintenance of the cashbook function and nominal ledger accounts
Reconciliation of bank accounts and other control accounts
Ad-hoc cover the in-house payroll function using Sage Payroll
General administrative duties and maintaining filing regularly
Experience and Skills required:
Previous experience within a similar role
Steady work history
A recognised qualification such as AAT or equivalent may be an advantage although a proven track record is considered as important
Experience in working on Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook
An aptitude to adapt and quickly learn new procedures and the use of bespoke in-house software, experience using an ERP system will be a distinct advantage
Excellent communication skills both verbal and written
