Job Description

Manpower is excited to be working with our client to source an Accounts Assistant to work in their Plymouth office. Our client is an award-winning local accountancy firm based in the Plymouth area for over 45 years. They are committed providing client satisfaction, protecting the environment and serving the local community.

About the role

As Accounts Assistant, you will be responsible for building and developing relationships with clients, staff and local businesses. You will provide accounts support to a wide range of customers, including preparing accounts and managing bookkeeping and VAT clients. There will be some tax work and you will also be required to oversee the work of trainee accountants.

This is a full-time role based in Plymouth, the hours are 9am-5pm, Monday to Friday. The company offers a pension scheme, good holiday allocation and a competitive, experience-based salary.

About the Candidate

Are you confident, friendly, helpful, AAT qualified, and able to adapt to new IT systems and programs rapidly?

We are looking for a driven AAT Level 3 or 4 qualified Accounts Assistant with proven analytical skills who can hit the ground running. If you are not yet qualified at this level, you will need to have at least 3 years' experience working within an Accountancy firm in this type of role. Previous work in an accountancy practice, with exposure to both tax and accounts is essential. Working independently, you will have the ability to prioritise your workload to meet deadlines, multitasking when necessary. Excellent attention to detail, strong written and verbal communication skills and the capacity to present information clearly and concisely are also required. You will possess GCSE Grade C (or equivalent) in English and Maths, good organisational skills and have a sound working knowledge of Accounting Software, including Xero.
