Job Description

INDUSTRY: Engineering - precision engineering and fabrication services
POSITION: Accounts Clerk
LOCATION: Chadderton, Greater Manchester
HOURS: Monday - Friday / 08.00 - 17.30
SALARY: £27k - £33k dependant on experience, company bonus scheme, 25 days holiday plus bank holidays

This is a successful and long-established family owned engineering business with a blue chip customer base, operating from various sites across England. Due to company growth they are now looking for an experienced accounts clerk to join our already well established team in Chadderton.

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate a stable employment history, in an accounting role within the engineering sector with the following attributes being fundamental to the role:

A good level of computer literacy will be essential as the Company uses bespoke systems, Sage 200, Human Resource software, Microsoft modules including Excel, Word and Outlook, as well as various Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) systems;

Experience of using an integrated job costing and accounting system, such as M1 Enterprise Resource Planning ("ERP") software, for multiple sites;
Ability to work to strict month end deadlines with a "must do" approach to their work and its accuracy;
Understanding of, and experience in the operation of, purchase ledger, sales ledger, nominal ledger and fixed asset register both on Sage 200 and ERP software;
Good communication skills when dealing with suppliers and customers in resolving queries and requesting payment;
Ability to process weekly and monthly payroll with varying hours and pay elements on Sage payroll to include an understanding of auto-enrolment requirements and compliance;
Good knowledge of basic VAT guidance with a proactive approach to ensuring VAT is paid/ reclaimed only as appropriate and assisting in the preparation and submission of VAT Returns for group companies;
A flexible attitude to working with other members of accounts staff as well as other colleagues within the Company.
Acceptance of responsibility to meet company targets and the demands of its customer base, which may include providing support to colleagues.
