Brook Street Edinburgh is current seeking an experienced Accounts Technician for our client based in Bathgate. Our client is a well-established Accountants & Tax Advisory firm who have been seen continued success and growth throughout turbulent times due to their commitment and dedication to their clients.

The firm has been in existence since 1975 and currently have 2 offices based in Bathgate and Falkirk. You will be joining a close-knit friendly team of 7, all with no less than 5 year's experience within the industry so there is no shortage of knowledge to help you settle in to this role.

This position will offer you the opportunity to work in a varied role within a team of experienced and reliable accountants that provide an excellent and valued service to their client base.

The role

Completing accounts for sole traders, partnerships, and limited companies using Sage Accounts Production.

Preparing corporation tax and income tax computations.

The use of SageOne to complete VAT returns and then using data to complete year end accounts and updating of clients accounting records

VAT returns using Excel

A large part of your role will be to meet with clients and explain your business and advise on theirs, so impeccable customer service skills are essential for this role as strong client relationships are key to this business.

My client is seeking a real team player, someone who is not afraid assisting on an ad-hoc basis with tasks that may not be within your remit to help towards the achievement of one shared common goal.

The person

Do you have 18 months - 2 years working in a practice environment?

Experience in Sage is required. Experience with Quickbooks and Zero would be beneficial but not essential as full training will be given and you will achieve a QuickBooks Online Core Certification.

You must be confident, self-motivated and show a high level of initiative and excellent attention to detail as there will be a level of autonomy in this position to work to deadlines.
