Job Description

We have an exciting opportunity for an Administrative Assistant to work for our client, NHS England. This is a temporary position until March 2022 which is highly likely to be ongoing!

Location: York, Leeds and Rotherham
Working from home currently but may be based at your local branch in future
Hours: Monday - Friday, 37 hours per week (9:00-17:00)
Salary: £10.29PH rising to £11.20PH after 12 weeks in the role

Overview of role:

  • You will provide administrative support. You will follow set procedures and will exercise some independent judgement in carrying out instructions, under general supervision. Examples of work performed will include but not be restricted to:
  • Provide and support managers with a wide range of administrative and computer skills as well as maintaining a range of knowledge and understanding of procedures, protocols and functions
  • Act as first point of contact to area of work for a wide range of stakeholders
  • Provide and receive complex information which may contain contentious and sensitive information
  • Communicating and engaging with external and internal stakeholders which may require negotiation skills and understanding the needs/requirements and of other organisations, senior professionals and individuals
  • Updating and maintaining data bases and/or spread sheets relevant to work area, and manage meeting arrangements including the taking and distribution of minutes etc.
  • To manage the diaries and associated arrangements of senior managers and directors
  • Taking telephone calls for others in the department when they are out and expected to use their initiative when dealing with phone calls and messages.
  • Organising and planning events as directed, providing all necessary supporting in local materials.


Required for the role:

  • Educated to NVQ 4 level in business admin or equivalent experience
  • Administrative/ secretarial experience
  • Proficient in M/S office packages and outlook
  • Understanding of Confidentiality and Data Protection Act.
  • Good Problem solving
  • Ability to work at pace in a busy working environment and able to multi-task
  • Ability to work without supervision. Able to work on own initiative, organising and prioritising own and other workloads
  • Good Diary and meeting management
  • Able to adapt in a changing environment
  • Experience of minute taking- completing actions from the back of meetings
