Job Description

Immigration Enforcement`s vision is to reduce the size of the illegal population and the harm it causes. This vision is supported by 3 core objectives to:

" prevent migrants from entering the UK illegally and overstaying
" deal with threats associated with immigration offending
" encourage and enforce the return of illegal migrants from the UK

Detention Engagement Teams (DETs) are a dynamic and responsive team working as part of Detention, Progression and Returns Command (DPRC) to enhance the quality and frequency of engagements between Home Office and the people entering Immigration Removal Centres (IRC). The successful candidate will be part of a new initiative within the Home Office which will be both rewarding and energising.

Engagement Support Officer are expected to:

o Support the EO engagement officer
o Monitor the inbox and managing e-faxes.
o Arrange and allocating interviews as necessary.
o Immigration paperwork will generally be served to people by Engagement Officers, however on occasion Engagement Support Officers may be required to complete this function; e.g: where staff shortages or annual leave occurs and to ensure operational needs are met
o Work closely with the Welfare Office within the removal centre, dealing appropriately with any issues that arise. The Welfare Office is run by the service provider and is a key touch-point for people to raise any concerns they may have
o Undertake general office administration duties as part of your role and to assist in the successful running of the Detention Engagement Team within the Centre.
o Conduct interviews with those detained, as required.
o Deal with ad hoc queries as and when they arise.
o Undertake general office administration duties as part of your role and to assist in the successful running of the Detention Engagement Team within the Centre.
o Contribute accurately and timely towards the compiling of management reports as required.
o Undertake Personal Safety Training level 2 (PST2).

During the course of duty, the successful candidates will be involved in responding to case working issues, liaising with teams and Case Owners across Immigration Enforcement, Border Force and other agencies to resolve or highlight issues
The successful candidate will work closely with other embedded teams within the IRC`s

This role attracts an Annualised Hours Allowance rate, which varies between sites. This will be confirmed at offer of appointment for those successful candidates and is subject to annual review.
Qualification requirements
Minimum 5 GCSE`s at grade A*- C or equivalent (must be evidenced if called to interview stage)

This is a temporary role for 12 months based in Harmondsworth, near Heathrow, initially paying £13.27 per hour. 37 hours per week.
Detention Engagement Teams operate a shift system to cover the following 7.30am and 7:30pm Monday to Friday and 9am to 5pm on Saturdays, Sundays and Public Holidays 9am to 5.30pm (flexible working available). Hours will be by prior agreement.
