Job Description

Temporary Admin Officer position until 31/03/24 with probable extension based in Truro.

Our client HM Courts & Tribunals Service (HMCTS) is an agency of the Ministry of Justice. HMCTS provides administrative support for the legal system across England and Wales, ensuring justice works for everyone.

£11.88 per hour is the pay rate. This is an office-based role.

Full time Monday to Friday, 37 hours per week (9 AM to 5 PM are the core hours).

Full training will be given.

As an admin officer you will provide general admin support within the team, you will need to be flexible, hardworking and have the ability to provide good customer service to a variety of users.

Duties may include, but not be limited to:

  • Preparing papers and files for court hearings
  • Producing court documents including letters and court orders
  • General photocopying and filing
  • Creating and updating records on in-house computer system and data input
  • Post opening and dispatch
  • Standard letters and correspondence
  • Logging documents and filing them on the court file
  • Assisting court users, supporting listing and rota management
  • Checking files in preparation of court hearings
  • Contacting relevant parties, collecting fees etc, including the use of chip and pin
  • Handling counter (face to face), written and telephone enquiries
  • Communicate and work with the Judiciary, Magistracy, the Cluster Managers, Court staff, and other internal and external stakeholders
  • To deliver a helpful, prompt, polite and "right first time" service to our internal and external customers

Required skills:

  • Good accurate typing/data entry skills
  • Excellent communication skills both verbal and written
  • Good strong working knowledge of Microsoft packages
  • Ability to follow instructions
  • Ability to work as part of a team but also able to work independently
  • Attention to detail and ability to prioritise workload

The role is subject to 3 years' referencing and a standard DBS check.
