Job Description

Our client HM Courts & Tribunals Service (HMCTS) is an agency of the Ministry of Justice. HMCTS provides administrative support for the legal system across England and Wales, ensuring justice works for everyone.
Our justice system defends our fundamental rights and freedoms. It is a cornerstone of our modern society and it must serve all those who call on it, when they call on it. From some of the most vulnerable people in our society, to families in crisis, claimants and commercial businesses - HMCTS has a responsibility to administer a justice system that is accessible to everyone and operates efficiently.

Temporary Administrator Positions - until 31st March 2025 with probable extension

Full Time Monday to Friday 37 hours per week - 9am to 5pm

£11.88 per hour

Brook Street are recruiting 3 administrators for the Nottingham Justice Centre, which is easily accessible by all the main travel links.

We are looking for enthusiastic individuals who have a passion for providing excellent admin and customer service.

As the role is customer facing, you will need to be both confident and smart looking, as well as able to speak in public with a clear and even voice.

As well as providing general admin support within the team, you will need to be flexible, hard-working and have the ability to provide good customer service to a variety of users.

On occasion you will be sat in court with members of the judiciary, so you may hear some distressing things.

Duties may include but not be limited to

  • Court clerking duties - potential to clerk Employment Tribunal hearings, SSCS Tribunals and/or IAC Tribunals.
  • Data Entry
  • Running the courts for social security and immigration hearings
  • Preparing the hearing rooms for either telephone, video or face to face hearings
  • General Administration Duties
  • Preparing accurate paper records and electronic files
  • Handling calls - receiving and completing calls from claimants, their representative's and/or judiciary
  • Dealing with queries, these could be by email, phone or face to face
  • Postal Duties
  • Liaising with members of the public (claimants/appellants), judiciary and other government bodies
  • Creating and updating records using in-house computer systems and Office 365
  • Maintaining of manual and electronic records

Required Skills

  • Good accurate typing/data entry skills
  • Excellent communication skills both verbal and written with all court users
  • Speak clearly, with authority
  • Good strong working knowledge of Microsoft Packages
  • Ability to follow instructions
  • Ability to work as part of a team but also able to work independently
  • Attention to detail and ability to prioritise workload

These are temporary roles to run until the 31st March 2025, likely to be extended beyond this date. Working full time Monday to Friday 37 hours per week. The role is subject to 3 years referencing and a Basic DBS Check.

Full training will be given.
