Job Description
Job Title: Administrative Officer - HM Courts & Tribunals Service via our Agency Brook Street (HMCTS)
Location: Clerkenwell County Court, London
Contract: Full-time, Temporary 12 months with possible extension
Salary: £14.75 per hour
Hours: Monday to Friday, 9:00am - 5:00pm (37 hours per week)
We have an exciting opportunity for a dedicated Administrative Officer to join HM Courts & Tribunals Service (HMCTS), part of the Ministry of Justice, based at Clerkenwell County Court. This is a full-time temporary position for an initial 6-month period, with the potential for contract extension.
Clerkenwell County Court is a civil court that handles a range of non-criminal cases, including business disputes, intellectual property matters, and tax issues. Unlike criminal courts, these cases are brought by individuals or businesses asserting their rights.
Key Responsibilities:
Work onsite 5 days a week at the court - no remote work
Handle contact with customers in person and via phone
Process court orders and liaise with involved parties
Perform court clerking duties alongside administrative tasks
Scan and transfer documents; maintain electronic databases
- prepare documents for hearings
Schedule hearings and contact relevant parties
Serve court documents, execute warrants, collect fines/fees using chip and pin
Liaise with members of the judiciary and support the court's daily operations
Skills & Experience Required:
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
Strong typing skills and keen attention to detail
Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment
Effective communicator via phone and email
Ability to manage workload independently
Previous administrative experience in a public service or legal setting is desirable

This process may also include obtaining character references and/or other evidence to cover periods of unemployment.
