Job Description

Client: Home Office - Admin Officer

Contract: Temporary 6 months (most likely to be extended and permanent opportunities may arise)

Pay rate £11.23 an hour

Hours: Monday - Friday, 37 hours a week, 9-5

Office working and location of the Office, Kirkstall LS4

We are currently recruiting for Admin Officers to join our public Sector Client. You must hold a British passport and be able to pass a Counter-Terrorism Check to be considered for this position.

Short Summary: Foreign National Offenders Returns Command's objective is to protect the public by deporting or removing foreign national offender's (FNO's) who commit criminal offences and to actively monitor and manage FNO's released into the community pending deportation. We do this by rigorously pursuing deportation against foreign nationals that have committed criminal offences, managing each case through the legal process, negotiating barriers such as travel documents and ensuring the use of immigration detention is appropriate.

Immigration Enforcement has overall responsibility for the removal of FNO's and works with the Ministry of Justice, the National Offender Management Service, the Foreign and Commonwealth office and the police to expedite the removal of FNO's

Job Description:

The successful candidate would undertake a number of different actions on a rota basis

  • managing information on spreadsheets with the requirement to be able to interpret and extract information from a database.
  • Monitor incoming correspondence and would be required to respond both by email and formal letter. Whilst template letters would be provided, they may be expected to draft responses to specific queries on individual cases.
  • Provide administrative support to the case-working unit by Managing incoming correspondence.
  • Answer the duty telephone in accordance with published guidance adhering to the Data Protection Act.
  • Liaising with all relevant stakeholders to ensure that all risks are appropriately managed including prisons, courts, police, Offender Managers (OM) Immigration Removal Centres (IRC) social services, legal representatives, healthcare professionals and others.
  • Progress and monitor cases that are allocated to the unit in a timely manner and in accordance with current policy and guidelines.
  • Ensure data accuracy is maintained on internal management systems.

The above list of duties is not exhaustive, and the post holder may be required to undertake any of the above tasks or additional tasks not listed above, within the remit of their grade, to support the team.

Essential Criteria:

  • Time Management; can manage own workload to meet deadlines and balance conflicting priorities with the ability to adapt and react to changing circumstances
  • IT literate (excel, word, outlook)
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills (both verbal and written)
  • Professional and customer-focused, ability to understand the needs of vulnerable customers
  • Ability to work closely with others to achieve a shared goal
  • Adaptable in dealing with changing priorities
