Job Description

The Ministry of Justice - Admin Officer

Location: Bradford & Keighley Magistrates Court

Hours: Monday - Friday (37 hours)

Pay: £10.86 per hour

Temporary contract with possibility for review for extension

Role Overview:

We are currently recruiting for a full time Administration Officer to join the Team at Bradford & Keighley Magistrates Court with our client, The Ministry of Justice based in Bradford. The role will include working as part of a flexible team. Carrying out a variety of general administrative duties to progress cases through the court/tribunal system.

Responsibilities include:

  • Preparing papers and files for court, tribunals, hearings and meetings
  • Amending defendant details and arranging hearings on the court internal computer systems
  • Answer court user queries over the phone, public counter
  • liaising with court officers
  • preparing court papers (digitally)
  • Recording the results of court hearings and communicating this information to relevant parties
  • Depending on the task it may be more target-focused (e.g. meeting deadlines)

What we are looking for:

  • adapt quickly to using the several court IT systems
  • self-motivated and use their initiative
  • able to prioritise their work effectively
  • able to communicate efficiently and appropriately over the phone and over email with a range of court professionals (legal advisors, prosecutors, solicitors, probation officers etc
  • Not be afraid to ask questions when unsure
  • Act in a fair and respectful way when dealing with court users and colleagues
  • Excellent grammar and spelling
  • Great customer service and team building skills
  • Great use and Knowledge of Microsoft packages
  • Great organisational skills, being able to prioritise own workload
