Job Description

📍 Royal Courts of Justice, Strand, Central London
📅 Start Date: Following completion of security checks
💷 Pay Rate: £14.75 per hour (plus holiday pay & pension scheme)
🕘 Hours: Full-time, 37 hours per week (Monday to Friday, 9:00am-5:00pm)
📄 Contract Type: Temporary (6 months)


We are seeking a committed Admin Officer to join the King's Bench Division at the Royal Courts of Justice, supporting one of two critical teams: the Deed Poll unit or the ACO Issues & Inquiries department. This is an excellent opportunity to contribute to the vital daily functioning of the High Court and provide key support in a historic and fast-paced environment.


Key Responsibilities

As an Admin Officer, you will work within either the Deed Poll team or the ACO (Administrative Court Office) team, performing the following core duties:



📝 Deed Poll Team

  • Process and review Deed Poll applications and supporting documents.

  • Liaise with applicants, legal representatives, and the judiciary regarding applications.

  • Manage filing and digital records with a high degree of accuracy.

  • Ensure sensitive personal data is handled in compliance with GDPR.



⚖️ ACO Issues & Inquiries Team

  • Issue legal proceedings and manage initial case processing.

  • Respond to complex legal and procedural enquiries from claimants, solicitors, and court users.

  • Prepare and maintain accurate court files and update internal systems.

  • Support the delivery of administrative tasks for urgent and high-profile cases.



💼 General Duties (applies to both teams)

  • Accurately enter and update information on internal databases and digital systems.

  • Liaise with internal teams and judiciary to ensure timely case progression.

  • Provide professional communication via telephone, email, and in person at public counters.

  • Support document scanning, uploading, and secure storage in line with court protocols.


Required Skills and Experience

  • Previous admin and/or customer service experience (essential).

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Outlook, and Word.

  • Excellent attention to detail and strong organisational skills.

  • Clear and confident communication skills, especially over the telephone.

  • Ability to manage competing priorities and remain professional in high-pressure environments.

  • A self-starter who can work independently with minimal supervision.


Additional Information

  • A DBS check is required before starting - assistance provided.

  • All candidates must pass security clearance, which typically takes 2-3 weeks.

  • The role begins once all vetting is completed.
