Administrative Officer - HM Courts & Tribunals Service (HMCTS)

Location: The Law Courts, Glebeland Place, Merthyr Tydfil, CF47 8BU
Contract Type: Temporary / Full-time
Salary: £13.25 per hour
Start Date: As soon as possible

Working Pattern: Monday-Friday, 37 hours per week, fully office based

About the Role
We're looking for an organised and customer-focused individual to join HMCTS as an Administrative Officer. You'll play a key role in supporting the smooth running of courts and tribunals by carrying out a range of administrative tasks and delivering excellent service to the public, judiciary, and legal professionals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare case files, court documents, and meeting materials
  • Update records and input data into internal systems
  • Handle incoming and outgoing correspondence
  • Support court hearings, tribunals, and other operational activities
  • Respond to enquiries via telephone, email, and face-to-face
  • Process legal documents, fines, fees, and claims
  • Verify and check information for accuracy and compliance
  • Assist with scheduling, listing, and rota management
  • Contribute to team meetings and continuous improvement initiatives

Skills & Experience

  • 5 GCSEs (A*-C) or equivalent, or relevant administrative experience
  • Strong communication and customer service skills
  • Good IT skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Flexible and adaptable approach to work
