Job Description

Our client HM Courts & Tribunals Service (HMCTS) is an agency of the Ministry of Justice. HMCTS provides administrative support for the legal system across England and Wales, ensuring justice works for everyone.

Our justice system defends our fundamental rights and freedoms. It is a cornerstone of our modern society and it must serve all those who call on it, when they call on it. From some of the most vulnerable people in our society, to families in crisis, claimants and commercial businesses - HMCTS has a responsibility to administer a justice system that is accessible to everyone and operates efficiently.

** Administrator/Fines Officer ** until end of September 2023 with probable extension ** Full Time Monday to Friday 37 hours per week ** £11.28 per hour


Brook Street are recruiting for an administrator to join the enforcement team with HMCTS Plymouth as a Fines Officer on a temporary basis, this is an exciting opportunity to gain valuable experience and a variety of skill sets.

As an admin officer you will provide general admin support within the team, you will need to be flexible, hard working and have the ability to provide good customer service to a variety of users.
On occasion you will be sat in court with members of the judiciary, so you may hear some distressing things.

Duties may include but not be limited to
" Liaising with court users in person, by phone or by email
" Data Entry
" General Administration Duties
" Maintaining accurate paper records and electronic files
" Liaising with 3rd parties to obtain relevant information
" Postal Duties
" Creating and updating records using in-house computer systems and Office 365
" Arranging payment plans, processing payments

Full training will be given.


Required Skills
" Good accurate typing/data entry skills
" Excellent communication skills both verbal and written
" Good strong working knowledge of Microsoft Packages
" Ability to follow instructions
" Ability to work as part of a team but also able to work independently
" Attention to detail and ability to prioritise workload

This is a temporary role to run until the end of October 2023, likely to be extended beyond this date. Working full time Monday to Friday 37 hours per week. The role is subject to 3years referencing and an Enhanced DBS Check
