Job Description

The post holder will be part of a dynamic team delivering an effective service, supporting staff across the public health system.

The role of the Public Health Central Commissioning team is to:

" Work with Department of Health (DH) to negotiate the annual Public Health Functions Agreement (Section 7a) and ensure it is effectively implemented
" Work with and support local NHSE public health commissioning teams in the development and delivery of the s7a programmes to improve quality of services and improve Public Health outcomes
" Work with Public Health England (PHE) to lead, manage and develop existing programmes described in the agreement


As Business Support Assistant, the post holder will work as part of a dynamic team in delivering an effective service supporting managers and staff across the Public Health Commissioning team, supporting the development of appropriate commissioning strategies, processes and protocols to deliver the public health functions agreement S7a programmes and improvements in public health outcomes.

In particular the post holder will provide and coordinate administrative and secretarial services; including for example, the preparation of agendas and minutes, taking appropriate follow-up action as required. Supporting the team with the management of projects, gathering information and undertaking enquires as and when it is necessary for the head of department and the team.

The main areas of support will be to the CHIS (Child Health Information Services) Programme, Data work, and supporting a number of Screening and Immunisation Programmes.



The post holder will:
" Support the management of all projects undertaken by the team
" Manage the diary and work of the Head of Public Health Commissioning
" Provide support for the rest of the team as appropriate


Delivering high standards
" Provide and support managers with a wide range of administrative and computer skills as well as maintaining a range of knowledge and understanding of procedures, protocols and functions
" Act as first point of contact to area of work for a wide range of stakeholders
" Provide and receive complex information which may contain contentious and sensitive information
" Updating and maintaining data bases and/or spread sheets relevant to work area, and manage meeting arrangements including the taking and distribution of minutes etc.
Qualifications

Educated to NVQ 4 level in a relevant subject or equivalent level of qualification or significant equivalent previous proven experience.
Knowledge and
experience Significant administrative/ secretarial experience including initiating and maintaining office systems.
Demonstrable experience in dealing with the public and dealing with sensitive and confidential information.
Intermediate knowledge of IT systems and software programmes such as Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Access.
Understanding of Confidentiality and Data Protection Act.
Knowledge of NHS issues

£9.28 per hour to start increasing to £10.31 per hour after 12 weeks
