Based in Trafford Park, this award winning manufacturing company is looking for an Application Engineer to provide technical support for dielectric fluid products. The role will predominantly be office based with approximately 20-30% of time spent travelling in the UK and abroad providing support to customers and to our commercial team or attending/speaking at conferences
This position will require someone with a sound materials science background and several years relevant work experience in the fluid specification/applications development, preferably with experience of lubricants or dielectric liquids.
You should be able to learn quickly and deal with the technical demands of promoting a variety of dielectric fluid products.
The right person will be comfortable with being customer facing and confident in discussing technical issues and delivering technical presentations. As much of this work will now be done online, it is important you are computer literate with experience of online meeting platforms
Responsibilities will include:
Providing support for all Dielectric Fluid technical enquiries received via the website, telephone and email
Lead Technical projects and activities designed to further the Dielectric Fluid product business or to promote products in the market.
Support or lead research projects with external partners to enhance knowledge of Dielectric Fluid products or Dielectric Fluid applications
Provide technical support to Business Development Managers and customers. Accompanying Business Development managers on customer visits as required, often abroad.
Provide Marketing with technical expertise and feedback from internal and external technical projects to produce technical brochures, update the website and
assist in production of various technical literature for use with customers.
Writing and delivering presentations and technical papers at exhibitions and conferences, often abroad.
Assist in identifying the commercial potential of new applications
Skills and Experience required:
It is important that you are able to work to deadlines, and be flexible enough to prioritize your workload to be proactively responsive to the needs of technical/customer/sales and marketing demands. You should have a confident manner and comfortable presenting to others.
A good degree in Materials Science, Chemistry or closely related subject
Must hold a UK passport, and be willing to travel
Significant experience of performance liquid (eg dielectric, lubrication or hydraulic) specification/applications/development
Practical lab experience
3 years technical support experience
Proven track record of communicating on technical issues with customers, with a practical outlook.
