Job Description

Assistant Project Manager - Health Education England

Location: Leeds (Remote Working)

Duration: Temporary contract until but possibility for review for extension

Salary: £16.79 - £19.89 after 12 weeks

Role Overview:

  • Project manage programmes whilst supporting other projects/workstreams within the team
  • Manage the teams business support functions, including developing and managing the teams plans, progress and report risk and issue management
  • Liaise with appropriate functions across national programmes
  • Develop and implement a content management system to ensure information is properly managed and best practice is shared across the team, Directorate and the wider NHS organisation
  • Oversight and management of all aspects of the programme budgets
  • Present complex, sensitive or contentious information to large groups or differing stakeholder groups where challenge or resistance may exist eg formal presentations, representation at formal meetings

Skills and Experience:

  • Ability to build and maintain a variety of constructive relationships with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders
  • Valued and active participant in relevant internal and external working groups/projects, services and initiatives to provide, information and analytical advice and expertise
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team
  • Able to effectively plan and co-ordinate the delivery of a broad range of complex tasks or programmes of work over medium term which would require the formulation of strategic plans and have impact across own department and wider organisation.
  • Ability to adjust plans and resources in line with changing events and requirements
  • Ability to determine the appropriate course of action where analysis and judgement of a range of complex and potentially conflicting information is required
  • Comprehensive knowledge of project principles, techniques and tools, such as Prince 2 Foundation and Microsoft Project
  • Demonstrated experience of co-ordinating projects in complex and challenging environments
  • Experience of monitoring budgets and business planning processes
  • Significant experience of successfully operating in a politically sensitive environment with diverse stakeholder input
  • Experience of drafting briefing papers and correspondence at SMT level
  • Experience of chairing effective meetings through building agendas and providing structure
  • Experience of taking information from a number of sources and provide analysis, summary and options within detailed report information
  • Experience and understanding of evaluating and measuring performance.
  • Experience of managing risks and reporting
  • Experience of managing a team and achieving objectives by working with others not under direct line management control
