Looking for part time work? Interested in some consistent work paired with an element of flexibility? Do you like variety, helping people out and are you happy with evening work? The I have just the thing.
This service really does help those who need it. Its a hostel for the homeless, but also helps people conquer issues like substance abuse and mental health, they also do suicide intervention work. Their goal is to help get people back on their feet.
This is a very varied vary role, offering different things to do on every shift. You might be helping the support worker for the day, working 1:1 with residents, taking them to appointments, talking to them and more importantly, listening to them. You could be helping them cook and making food for everyone, helping with the cleaning, or even going out to collect more clothes for the service.
You`ll need to be resilient and able to hold your own, but also be very understanding. You`ll be working with people in difficult situations, they could be on probation or be having benefit issues and so at times they can get quite aggravated and upset. You`ll need to be confident diffusing the situation and able to comfort them.
You will need to have 12 months experience working in care, ideally with experience working with mental health, homelessness or substance abuse.
Ideally, you will have a DBS registered to the online update service, however if you don`y, I can help you apply for one.
If this sounds like the kind of role you`d like to know more about, or if I`ve sold you on it already, I absolutely want to hear from you! You can get in touch with me on 01604 448408 or you can email me at
