Salary: £19.44 per hour
Location: Woolwich, South-East London
Hours: Monday-Friday 9am-5pm (37.5 hours a week)

Do you have experience in advising managers on how to handle complex employee relations issues?


Our client NHS, are recruiting an experienced HR Manager to work on-site at their hospital in Woolwich, on a three month temporary contract.

As a HR Manager, you will be responsible for the delivery of a comprehensive, professional and cost-effective HR advice and consultancy service, to selected services and divisions. You will also work with the Head of Employee Relations on the development and implementation of workforce strategies and plans in support of performance objectives.

Responsibilities of HR Manager:

  • Support the Head of Employee Relations with the development and delivery of the workforce strategy
  • Provide a competent and coaching leadership style consistent with the Trust values, and build and maintain effective relationships with managers and staff
  • Develop relationships internally and externally to ensure that best practice HR is applied within the organisation and opportunities for development and innovation are maximised
  • Assist with the development of the HR function, HR policies and business plans that enable the corporate goals and objectives to be achieved
  • Ensure effective management of employee relations cases taking into account best practice, employee legislation and organisational risk
  • Work with staff side representatives in addressing employment issues, ensuring early resolutions of concerns where possible
  • Support and challenge managers in the application of HR policies and practices, providing advice and guidance on a wide range of HR issues, ensuring best practice and minimising risk and financial exposure
  • Ensure cases with potential for wider impact are escalated to the Head of Employee Relations
  • Provide professional and expert advice and support to ensure managers are competent and confident in dealing with a wide range of staff management issues
  • Support the Head of employee Relations in the development and delivery of HR projects
  • Provide expert advise as required in disciplinary, grievance and job evaluation panels


Required Skills and Experience:

  • CIPD qualified or equivalent
  • Able to build effective, professional and collaborative working relationships with internal and external colleagues
  • High level of written and verbal communication skills
  • Effective influencing and negotiating skills
  • Proven ability to manage a range of situations that may evoke a strong emotional reaction
  • Competent user of Microsoft packages including Word and Excel
  • Ability to interpret and apply HR knowledge to workforce management
  • Effective problem solving skills
  • Extensive experience of advising managers on how to handle complex employee relations issues including writing management statements of cases and advising at disciplinary hearings, and other formal hearings
  • Significant and varied experience in Human Resources, working with managers and proven experience of delivering high quality HR services
  • Experience of facilitating and managing change
  • Expert level of knowledge in workforce management, including legislation and best practice
