Business Development Manager

Job Description

Brook Street Recruitment is working on behalf of our client in Ballyclare to recruit a full time and permanent Business Development Manager to join their freight forwarding and customs division.

Our client works across a wide variety of industry sectors for many leading manufacturers, retailers and distributors in the UK, Ireland and across Europe.

The successful candidate hired for this role will be responsible for managing and maintaining the existing customer base, actively sourcing new business and helping to develop other business activities within the company with the objective of increasing revenue and improving profitability.

Key Tasks:

Making regular contact with existing customers, taking ownership and developing the business relationship while ensuring the customer is receiving the high level of service expected.
Develop and grow existing customer accounts by ensuring all business opportunities have been explored.
Research the marketplace to establish links with potential new customers and continuously introduce and develop new customer accounts.
Research and develop other business activities and opportunities outside the core business.
Liaising with Operations team to establish any service issues or customer problems, ensuring that timely resolutions are obtained.
Liaise with other Group Directors and the Finance Director to understand the business sales strategy and integrate into the company.
Liaise with Finance and Business Analytics departments to ensure that costings and rate schedules are prepared using the correct methodology.
Liaise with Marketing Department to ensure that targeted and relevant material is used to promote the company
Discuss, document, report and submit quotations as per customer request.
Assist with debt problems where necessary.
Produce weekly sales reports, updating management on old and new accounts.

Essential Criteria:

It is 100% essential that applicants have experience in Global Freight Forwarding.
Proven successful business development and/or account management experience in the UK and Ireland.
Highly motivated, personable, professional and able to cultivate long-term business relationships.
Proven track record of achieving sales targets and role specific KPIs.
Minimum of 3 years account management experience.
High level numerical skill with experience and understand of costings, pricings and margins.
High level of IT literacy with experience using Microsoft Office - including Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
Able to travel within the UK and Ireland as required.

Desirable Criteria:

Experience of working with a CRM system and sales pipeline management.
Effective communication, negotiation and interpersonal skills.
