Business Development Manager (IT Industry) - circa £40k depending on experience

Brook Street is delighted to present the opportunity to work for an innovative software and technology company specialising in payment solutions. Having operated for over 30 years my client, based in the Southampton area, provide a wide range of front and back office software solutions to their clients. As a result of both continued expansion and the continued development of their client base, an exciting opportunity has arisen for a Business Development Manager to join their team.

About the job:

The Business Development Manager will seek out new business opportunities and deliver new customer wins within the Petrol Forecourt and Convenience Store Market. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining existing customer relationships in their sales territory to drive high levels of customer engagement and further future sales opportunities. Key to the role will be building internal relationships, ensuring a team mentality is at the forefront within the sales department and the wider business.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Seek out new business opportunities within defined guidelines and timescalesPosition the company and yourselves within each account to gain trust and respect as a trusted advisor to the client's business
  • Deliver consistently against targets
  • Build, manage and maintain a substantial pipeline of qualified opportunities to underpin target achievement
  • Ensure that all pipeline activity is accurately recorded and updated within CRM
  • Thoroughly research and understand each of your accounts to gain a deep understanding of the client's business needs
  • Accurately forecast sales by month and quarter
  • Demonstrate our client's product and services suite clearly and differentiate our client's offering within the market
  • Successfully position our client's solutions within the context appropriate to the specific client or sector, utilising Value Based arguments and Consultative Sales engagement
  • Negotiate pricing and contractual terms as required and in line with company guidelines

  • Ensure all customers receive a professional handover between Sales and Service/Support
  • Continually development of your knowledge and skills to ensure they remain current and relevant bring value to the client's business
  • Promote a professional image at all times
  • Ensure completion of all required Sales documentation and adherence to all Sales processes
  • Demonstrate effective and collaborative use of all available resources

  • Demonstrable track-record closing complex solution sales
  • Background in Epos, Payments, Loyalty for Convenience and Forecourt sectors
  • Background and understanding of target market segment
  • Experience selling at senior management and business owner level
