Job Description

Business Development Executive / New Business - Leading Crisis PR Agency - £50,000

JOB DESCRIPTION

The opportunity:

My client is a communications agency specialising exclusively in crisis and reputation management. Their work is project-focused, helping clients to navigate time-sensitive issues, and have recently introduced new products, that are aimed at clients who want to take a more productive approach to crisis and reputation management.

We are looking for a New Business Manager or Business Development Executive to sell these products to potential clients, which will enable us to do more of the work that the team really wants to do!

My client has a democratic approach to business planning and you'll seize the opportunity to bring new ideas to the process and to be heard by the management team.

About you:

  • You will have worked in a supporting role within a business development team previously and have 2-3 years experience of in building databases
  • drafting outreach pitches, preparing for introductory meetings, and contributing to marketing activities targeting prospective clients.
  • You have a good grasp of the basics and are now seeking more responsibility and the opportunity to run your own sales program
  • Experience and preference for working as part of a small close-knit team.
  • My client has a democratic approach to business planning, and you'll seize the opportunity to bring new ideas to the process and to be heard by the management team

The role:
Develop and deliver a sales strategy for my client that focuses on three areas:

  1. Inbound leads

Key tasks: Act quickly to identify solutions to incoming enquiries, partner with colleagues to generate the appropriate response (Letter of Engagement, proposal etc), and manage prospective clients throughout the process to successfully close the deal.

  1. Up-selling opportunities

Key tasks: Track the project status of current clients and work with account handlers to cross-sell appropriate new products and services before the contract term ends. Rekindle relationships with lapsed clients, and introduce them to my client 's newest products & services.

  1. Cold prospecting

Key tasks: Identify and qualify prospective leads appropriate to my client products and services, build and manage the database, undertake all outreach and work with marketing to create activities that will enable regular contact with warm leads (newsletters / webinars etc).

Key requirements:

  • The candidate will ideally have held a new business role in another B2B communications agency and understand crisis comms. Direct selling experience of crisis comms products and services is not needed.
  • An empathetic approach to client comms, especially when managing incoming leads. Clients tend to call us when they are experiencing a crisis, which can be a fraught and stressful situation for them.
  • A self-starter approach to generating the leads and delivering the targets - this is a new area for the agency, which has been disproportionately well served by incoming leads and WOM referrals in the past. A limited database, largely comprising lapsed clients, is in place and needs significant development.
  • Knowledge of GDPR and managing third party data in line with my client's privacy policy.
  • Knowledge of PipeDrive/Linked In Sales Navigator. We are relying on the candidate to recommend other appropriate data sources that will enable the successful implementation of the strategy.
  • A keen collaborator, working in partnership with marketing to deliver relevant activities that convert leads into sales.

Benefits:

  • Hybrid working
  • 24-7 access to co-working space + amenities
  • 25 days annual holiday (exclusive of bank holidays)
  • Personal pension (the People's Pension)
  • Private health care (Vitality, includes hefty discounts off gym memberships and classes, 8 mental health talking therapy sessions annually, plus earn up to £225 annually to redeem against optical/dental services)
  • Unlimited barista-made coffee, served between 8-3 pm daily
  • Free bar, from 3-6 pm daily
  • Team lunch on your birthday
  • Summer social + Christmas party
