Job Description

Business Management Officer - Budgets & Finance Role
Monday to Friday 9-5
14.01 an hour
Temporary assignment 4 months with a possible extension

The Business Management Team are looking for Business Management Officer who are enthusiastic and proactive, with the ability and resilience to operate effectively in a fast paced environment, to provide day to day Business Management support to our legal teams and their Deputy Directors within the Budgets and Finance Function. Although posts are currently temporary, there is an expectation that we will be recruiting permanently and candidates in post on a temporary basis will be able to apply.

Successful candidates will primarily focus on providing support to the Budgets and Finance Function. Key responsibilities will include working closely with the Budgets and Finance Business Manager supporting with financial reporting, budget management, staff in post reporting, completing ad hoc tasks.

Successful candidates will also work on Corporate Tasks which support the team as a whole. Such corporate tasks might include; arranging all staff events, wellbeing, skills and careers sessions, training and Business Management away-days. This list is not exhaustive and the successful candidates will be required to provide ad-hoc support where and when necessary.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Working closely with Business Managers and supporting with financial reporting, budget management, staff in post reporting, completing ad hoc tasks and data lists
  • Supporting the Business Manager to actively update weekly staff in post reporting, monitoring the profiled staffing complement against the yearly budget
  • Collating weekly staff updates to incorporate updates to the organogram and distribution lists
  • Supporting the Business Manager to provide Deputy Director's with budget reporting and vacancy reporting on both current and forecasted positions, identifying any risks towards their budget position
  • Supporting the Business Manager and working with Finance on monthly, quarterly forecast returns and the yearly budget commissioning.
  • Supporting the Business Manager to update the monthly Accrual report
  • Supporting the Business Manager to update the monthly Board Report
  • Supporting the Business Manager with crosschecking HR SIP with reporting, and updating HR Smartsheet templates on a quarterly basis
  • Supporting the Business Manager on Workforce Planning preparation and discussions
  • Management of certifying and monitoring invoices

Typical qualifications and experience:

  • Five GCSE passes at Grade C or above
  • Two A level passes at grade E or above or equivalent
  • NVQ Management Level 3 or 4 (or suitable junior management experience)
  • Administrative experience with a good knowledge of and experience in using Microsoft Office
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
  • Intermediate to advanced level of Excel Knowledge
  • Excellent time management skills required for working towards deadlines
  • Experience of budgeting and forecasting
