Job Description
A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a Meter Reader for a successful utility company based in the Midlands area. Ideally, I am looking for candidates situated near main Motorway links within the areas Birmingham, Coventry, Walsall, Stoke-on-Trent, Derby, Dudley, Shrewsbury, Telford and Wolverhampton.
The role entails going into people`s homes and businesses to take a reading of their meters and also informing customers of the benefits of Smart metering. You will be responsible for managing your own workload and hours, targets are set for a number of readings you are expected to take per week. The targets will change weekly depending on what work you`ve been allocated that week.
You will be a disciplined and very organised individual who is happy to work individually, with a current UK CLEAN Driving licence. You must have good communication skills and a background of customer service. Please note that driving or field-based experience is required for this role, but you will also be given full training for the role. Training generally lasts a couple of months, once completed there is potential for your hourly rate to rise from £9.42/hour to £9.87/hour.
Driving License must be clean, and you must be able to pass a criminal record check as you will be entering customer`s homes.
This is an ongoing temporary contract running until at least the new year. This role could also lead to a fixed term contract/permanent position. The rate of pay is £9.42/hour. You will also receive a performance related bonus subject to meeting targets.
The hours are generally 12pm-8pm, however, this will be reviewed later in the year as the timings may be pushed forward as the daylight hours change. You will be able to have a day off in the week if you would like to work on a Saturday instead. Alternatively, Saturday work could be offered as overtime.
A vehicle will be provided to you as well as a fuel card which is to be used for business and company purposes.
