Job Description

We are looking to recruit 2 Maintenance/ Caretakers on a temporary basis to provide maintenance support to a student accommodation site.

Hours: Monday to Friday 40 hours working on a rota'd shift pattern 4 on 4 off

Start Date: ASAP

Location: Birmingham

Pay: £12.82 per hour paid weekly every Friday

You must be available up to July 19th and be able to work the weekend of 16th and 17th July

**These positions are pending DBS and compliance checks (paid by Brook Street)**

THE ROLE

Working as a Maintenance/ Caretaker you'll be working on 1 site providing maintenance support within a student accommodation site and will be responsible for the building's maintenance working part of a team ensuring the buildings health and safety.

You will need to be physically fit as this role require you to be on your feet most of the day and you will be expected to complete some heavy lifting duties.

TYPICAL DAILY JOB DUTIES - WHAT WILL YOU BE RESPONSIBLE FOR?
- Ensure the environment is maintained and kept in a clean & orderly manner
- General basic maintenance duties such as unblocking sinks and toilets, repairing door handles, cleaning light fittings and replacing where necessary minor parts such as tubes, bulbs and diffusers
- Undertake grounds maintenance duties such as street sweeping, litter picking, leaf clearance
- Undertake office furniture moves and the setup of rooms
- Recognise pests, diseases and weeds and control using correct materials and equipment following COSHH regulations
- Monitor the CCTV and alarm systems, test the fire alarm systems

-Perform emergency light fitting, monthly testing, maintenance, inspections and like for like replacements as required
-Perform weekly fire alarm testing
-Perform and change lock repairs, door hanging, hinge replacement, fixing noticeboards, small painting and decorating tasks
-Perform plumbing maintenance such as tap washers, toilet seat replacement, tightening leaking joint

PERSON SPECIFICATION
- Comfortable in completing a DBS security check (paid by Brook Street)
- Previous experience in providing high quality building and minor maintenance service
- Excellent customer service
- Ability to identify potential risks and undertake risk assessments
- Ability to meet tight deadlines
- First aid, Fire Warden and IOSH certificates would be ideal but not essential
- Willingness to undertake training including: First Aid, Health and Safety, Fire Warden
