Job Description

Our Client is looking for a case worker to join the Protecting Vulnerable People Unit on a temporary assignment.

To support investigating officers within the Protecting Vulnerable Persons Unit in gathering third party material/evidence and the preparation, development and submission of prosecution files with regards to crimes relating to child abuse, vulnerable adult abuse, rape and serious sexual offences. The role is based at home but will involve some travel in the East of Lincolnshire. The role is flexible in regards to hours but it is a full time position.



CORE WORK AREAS:

Take statements and prepare other documents in connection with the investigation of crime within the Protecting Vulnerable Persons arena.

Assist officers with undertaking video recorded interviews to obtain evidence from victims of crime.

Request, view and obtain material from 3rd party organisations across Lincolnshire & in other counties.

Liaise with other police departments, police forces and outside agencies in relation to the gathering of evidence.

Prepare and submit initial court files to the Crown Prosecution Service ensuring that they meet the standards specified in the Manual of Guidance. Prepare file upgrades for trials in line with the timescales in Better Case Management and expedited cases as per the Child Under 10 Protocol.

Act as Disclosure Officer throughout an investigation, ensuring that all relevant unused material is identified and recorded in accordance with the provisions of the Criminal Procedures Investigation Act 1996 and taking account of Public Interest Immunity provisions.

In conjunction with an investigating officer obtain evidence required as part of a post-charge action plan at the direction of CPS.

Monitor the continuity of evidence and exhibits in accordance with the provisions of the Police and Criminal Evidence Act 1984 and force procedures.

Attend court to provide assistance to the officer in the case or prosecutor, conduct enquiries requested by the court & provide other assistance as required.

Improve performance through promoting and valuing diversity, in line with the Force Diversity Strategy.



Core Requirements

Business administration qualification or equivalent NVQ Level 2 or experience in a similar role

Full UK driving licence & ability to drive

Previous experience of providing a high quality administration service

Previous experience of using Microsoft Office packages, i.e. Word, Excel and competent in the use of IT packages

Ability to develop strong working relationships with partner agencies and community groups.

Communicates effectively and clearly both verbally and in writing avoiding jargon

Demonstrates an understanding of data protection issues

Ability to be tactful and influence difficult situations

Ability to develop strong working relationships

Understands confidentiality

Demonstrates self-management when under pressure and in demanding situations.

Possess a full UK driving license as travel is required

£12.34 per hour
