CCTV Control Room Operator
High Wycombe
Contract

Brook Street is currently working on behalf of our public sector client to recruit a CCTV Control Room Operator. This is an open-ended temporary role based in High Wycombe.

Pay: between £9.00 - £11.00 BOE
Hours: You must be able to commit to flexible working hours/unsociable shifts. There are 3 cycles of rotating shifts as continuous CCTV coverage is required. There are normally always two shift Operators on duty.

Job Description
As a CCTV Control Room Operator, you will be using the CCTV Control Centre Systems to help ensure the security and the safety of the General public. You will be working in partnership with the Thames Valley Police (TVP) in the prevention, detection and reduction of crime.

Our client's cameras operate 365 days a year, so the monitoring and management of all CCTV cameras, DVRs and other equipment linked to the CCTV operation must be diligently carried out, followed by the appropriate actions when necessary. Associated Control Room duties and administrative functions must also be carried out in accordance with the Council's Code of Practice and CCTV Procedure Manuals.

Key Responsibilities
" Understand/operate all CCTV Centre systems in accordance with the Council's CCTV Procedure Manual
" Provide a pro-active and re-active monitoring service. Take action in the event of witnessing suspicious activity by contacting authorities and recording all incidents.
" To be familiar with the road network in all the CCTV coverage areas (particularly key features such as banks, post offices, ATM's, pubs, etc where incidents are likely to arise).
" Ensure all equipment is functional and report equipment faults to the appropriate Maintenance Contractor, arrange regular inspection and testing of equipment.
" Monitor and maintain radio contact with the 80+ Wycombe and Marlow Watch members and with the Council's radio users when required.
" Investigate incidents as requested by police by viewing recorded video to assist in the detection of crime. Attend court if required to provide further testimony.
" Ensure visitors to the Control Centre sign-in and are supervised at all times.
" Provide public assist functions such as road traffic status reports.
" Perform PC data entry duties such CCTV activities, statistics and other PC tasks.

Candidate Requirements
" As a CCTV Control Room Operator, you will be required to remember details and produce accurate and detailed statements. You will also be able to deal with day to day operations problems and be able to identify and make recommendations for changes and improvements.
" The CCTV Centre is subject to regular upgrades and expansion of its services, so a flexible attitude and a willingness to learn new techniques is appreciated.
" Total confidentiality and sensitivity is needed in this role as the CCTV Control Centre is run in partnership with the Thames Valley Police.
" You will have to make judgements and decisions in circumstances, usually without reference to others, when dealing with incidents in order to overcome a variety of problems.
" Deal with all aspects of emergencies

Qualifications
" Minimum of 6 months previous experience in a CCTV Control Room
" Customer service or care background preferable
" Good basic PC/IT skills, especially data entry
" Good communication skills (written and on the phone/radio)
" Good general standard of education (GCSE), including good pass in English
" Knowledge of Council's Code of Practice, the Council's CCTV Procedure Manual, the Human Rights Act, the Data Protection Act and the Regulations for Investigatory Powers Act would be desirable but not essential as you will be trained appropriately.
