CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER
MORAY
SALARY: £42,500

KEY JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Act as company lead for all strategic and operational matters.
  • Be accountable to the Board of Directors (the Board).
  • Initiate and drive forward operational and strategic projects which promote and support members, levy payers, tourism and tourism businesses in Moray and sustain the success of VMS, in support of the VMS Business Plan and HIE recovery funding.
  • Ensure the proper day-to-day administration of the company including office accommodation, Board meetings, and any correspondence associated with the company.
  • Ensure the proper and effective operation of the company in accordance with the Articles of Association, relevant legislation and best practice.
  • Ensure that projects and services are developed and delivered within the agreed budget.
  • Manage and be responsible for effective delivery and outcome reporting of work delivered under the HIE funded destination recovery project heading.
  • Oversee and be responsible for the effective management, disbursal and reporting of Beatrice SSE Windfarm community support funds.
  • Monitor expenditure and advise the Board of the financial position of the company including the assistance with the preparation of company accounts.
  • Effectively manage all areas of activity identified within the VMS Business Plan ensuring work is delivered within budget, to timescale and to the highest quality possible.
  • Prepare reports and briefing papers, including regular updates on progress against the Business Plan, which enable the Board to make appropriate and informed decisions.
  • Prepare reports for the members of the company, the levy payers and other relevant au-thorities, as required, on the progress of the company and the delivery of the Business Plan.


PROMOTION AND REPRESENTATION

  • Ensure that appropriate media are used to keep the members, levy payers, local business-es and the local community apprised of developments, new projects and activities of the
  • company.
  • Co-ordinate marketing, promotional and associated events with the assistance (where necessary) of creative, design & marketing agencies to maximise impacts and outcomes within agreed budgets.
  • Report Tourism BID company progress to the members and levy payers on a regular basis and in a variety of ways.
  • Undertake any other reasonable activities as required by the Board of Directors, including attending business events and activities on weekends and evenings, and to travel out with Moray, including to other countries as part of the role.
  • The CEO may be a member of the Board of Directors, but such membership will not be remunerated.


TERM OF APPOINTMENT

  • This role is funded until 31 March 2025, and as such, the period of employment will be on a fixed term basis until that date.


PERSON SPECIFICATION

  • Demonstrable experience in the tourism or leisure sector, with visitors, tourism businesses and the travel trade.
  • Knowledge of tourism destination management.
  • Evidence of knowledge and experience of both public and private sector working.
  • Be willing to undertaken additional personal development training as identified by the Board from time-to-time.
  • Ability to effectively present a business case to key stakeholders for recommending change and improvement.
  • IT skills - ability to use and adapt to a variety of Microsoft Office based and project management applications. Must be confident in using Outlook, Word and Excel.
  • Ability to be able to analyse problems and adopt an innovative approach to finding solutions.
  • Be committed to developing an understanding of community issues.
