Job Description

Children's Support Worker - Abington / Whitney

£11ph / Start date - August 2022

We are looking for experienced Children's Support Workers to support within a day centre during the school holidays. This is a fantastic opportunity to work with the largest children's charity in the UK, providing care those children most in need.

Our vision is to build happy and healthy childhoods and support every child to thrive.

We support them to grow and learn and to develop their skills, confidence, and independence. The children and young people who attend the service have different learning, physical and emotional needs. Some children have high level complex needs, including health and social needs and behaviours that can challenge. The club provides a safe respite space for the children while not in school.

Our days include a range of activities for children and young people aged 5-18yrs. Our clubs run during school holidays and after school hours.

Duties include but are not limited to,
" Planning programmes of activities for children and young people that support the Services' work with parents/carers.
" Collaborate with other practitioners and volunteers to support parenting activities appropriate to children's needs and rights.
" To liaise with their parents/carers in respect of issues relating to their children's development and wellbeing.
" Contribute to child assessment activities on an occasional basis as agreed with the line manager
" In co-operation with other key workers, liaise with parents/carers to share information about their children's development and activities and offer support to their parental role and responsibilities in respect of their children.
" Safeguard the children - including reporting and responding to safeguarding disclosures and accessing support from relevant services and managers when necessary.
" Have an open and flexible approach to working with children and a commitment to understanding how to positively manage behaviours that can challenge.

Successful candidates MUST have experience working in a childcare or children`s residential setting and have knowledge and understanding of working with children with complex needs.

Candidates should hold a relevant qualification in Health and Social Care, Childcare, or similar.

A DBS registered on the update service is preferred but NOT essential.

A driving licence is essential.
