Job Description

Communications Assistant (NHS Digital)

This role is offering, Monday to Friday (full time hours), paying £12.74 per hour

Within this role, you will be reporting to the Head of Strategic Engagement and Internal Communications. You will work alongside the Internal Communications Team, the Events Team and the Stakeholder Relations Team to provide support across these delivery areas.

You will actively support engagement activities with staff and NHS Digital's key stakeholders through the delivery of events, internal communications including change communications and public affairs. The base for this role Leeds and you will be required to travel to our hub and satellite offices.

Within the role, you will:

  • Coordinate and develop the team's administration, planning, evaluation and reporting processes
  • Provide communications delivery, planning and evaluation support to the Head of Internal Communications and Strategic Engagement, spanning the events, strategic engagement and internal communication disciplines
  • Support internal and external communications and employee engagement by providing operational support in events and strategic engagement planning and delivery, and internal communications operational delivery
  • Operate and regularly monitor internal communication channels
  • Implement best practice in communications and public affairs and produce compelling, integrated, digital content, briefings and messaging to support proactive communications
  • Contribute to and develop the team's administration, planning, evaluation and reporting and able to adopt matrix working principles to support the wider strategic engagement and internal communications team


Skills needed for this role:

  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Effective interpersonal and communication skills - verbal and written
  • Expert ability to select, use and evaluate internal communication and engagement channels including intranet, internal social media, events etc
  • Excellent organisational skills and co-ordination ability
  • Diplomacy and relationship management skills (internal colleagues/clients and external partners and suppliers)
  • Ability to work with and influence senior leaders, managers and staff at all levels
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and coordinate activity across a range of areas and gather analytics
  • An appreciation of the need for confidentiality of information.
  • Able to provide and receive complex sensitive information
