Job Description

The Control Maintenance Engineer is responsible for the maintenance of control system assets ensuring preventative and predictive maintenance tasks are completed to ensure highest safety standards and optimum performance, to achieve the plant OEE targets.


Support the implementation of process improvements and capital investment to replace site assets working with the project team to develop the equipment scope of supply, and implementation.


Applicants are required to have HNC/D in Electrical Engineering with proven Control Engineering experience background and 3 - 5 years related experience.

" Maintain the site control systems to ensure they operate to the highest safety standards and to optimum performance.
" Identify potential control system problems, recommend and implement corrective actions.
" Responsible for completing effective electrical and control system maintenance.
" Carry out site electrical maintenance.
" Design, build and implement small control panels and control engineering modifications.
" Stock management for electrical and control engineering spares to limit production downtime.
" Support I.T. Dept to maintain the site I.T. and phone systems.
" Produce written reports for improvements to control systems and asset replacement to be presented to Management Team.
" Support the department to ensure compliance with Health, Safety & Environmental Standards.
" Responsible for completion of electrical safety checks for hazardous areas.
" Responsible for completion of schedule checks on the plant fire alarm system.
" Ensure work orders are completed in a timeline manner in line with work order priority level and operation of the Spidex CMMS is maintained.
" Provide an out of hours call out facility for the site plant.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

" Ensure that company ISO9001, IATF16949, Health, Safety and Environmental policies are always fully implemented.
" Ensure all planned maintenance tasks are completed on time and actions from service visits are reviewed and implemented.
" Ensure unplanned manufacturing downtime is kept to a minimum to enable Dept to achieve KPI's.
" Ensure site control systems are operating within specification.
" Manage work orders and priority to keep outstanding work to a minimum.
" Ensure no accidents or environmental incidents due to control system failure.
" Provide good level of support for manufacturing departments.
" Keep pace with changes in technology and available equipment.
" Ability to read, analyse, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
