Our client is currently seeking a paralegal to provide support to lawyers working in a residential conveyancing team. Based in their Highland office, this is an exciting opportunity to work within a highly respected team and to gain exposure to a varied range of clients and requirements.
The role would suit someone with existing experience of working within a busy residential conveyancing team. You will have a sound understanding of the conveyancing process, with the confidence to support the team in dealing with all aspects of the transaction from start to finish.
You must have good communication and IT skills and must be numerate and have a good eye for detail. You must have the ability to work flexibly both independently and as part of a team, with minimal supervision and with the ability to think on your feet. The ability to prioritise your workload and work to deadlines, whilst remaining calm under pressure, is also essential.
The role involves the following:
" assisting with file opening and sending initial letters to all parties
" collating ID and 'source of funds' information
" preparation of contract packs
" assisting in the preparation of client reports
" good verbal and administrative skills when dealing with the preparation of client/third party emails and correspondence
" file preparation before and after exchange
" completion day procedures
" submitting and paying stamp duty land tax
" obtaining Land Registry searches
" registration of matters at the Land Registry
" finalising post-registration matters
" attending to file reconciliation and closure
" helping with all other administrative duties
" complying with all principles, procedures and standards set by the firm
