Job Description

Court Marshall

37 hours per week - This could include evenings and weekends if required
Temporary position
£8.72 per hour Age dependant
Loughborough city centre

Background

Her Majesty's Courts and Tribunals Service (HMCTS) is an agency of the Ministry of Justice (MOJ) and provides the supporting administration for the Judiciary across England and Wales. It delivers services to the public directly in court and tribunal buildings, remotely via business and service centres and digital services online.

Due to the Covid 19 crisis, Courts across the country have been unable to operate and all non-essential cases haven't been processed. There is now a large backlog of cases and hearings that need to resume and pass through the Court system.
We are seeking temporary Marshalls who will provide essential assistance to our court users when coming to our courts.

Purpose

The role of a Marshall will be to provide support and guidance to help visitors navigate and move around the court houses/hearing centre's safely and in a time efficient way. Marshalls will be based at courthouses across the regions and will be pivotal to the smooth running of our services

Key Accountabilities:

" Supporting visitors flow in and out of the courthouse/hearing centre's
" Guiding visitors through new one-way system safely and efficiently
" Encouraging visitors to adhere to social distancing guidance as necessary
" Providing clear and concise verbal instructions to people moving through the courthouse/hearing centre's
" Reassuring visitors and answering any queries, or signposting them to the necessary area or member of court staff as required
" Supporting and supervising those visitors in the waiting areas



Experience / skills required:

" Clear and assertive communication skills
" Excellent team working skills
" Ability to use initiative in situations

You must be able to pass a DBS check to be eligible for this position
