Job Description

Court Usher

We are currently recruiting for a Court Usher to work with one of our fantastic Public Sector clients In Coventry CV1.

This a 3-month temporary position initially but one in which you would be able to gain valuable exposure/experience working within the Public Sector.

If you have worked within the public sector before this would be advantageous but not essential. If you have transferable experience, then we would love to hear from you.

The Court Usher acts as an essential first point of contact for all the court users involved in hearings.
There will be regular contact with the judiciary, assisting the administrative staff with the smooth flow of court work. You will meet members of the public and their legal representatives; prepare court/ hearing rooms, and complete documentation, as well as ensuring the court runs smoothly and efficiently. You will also carry out some general clerical work as required to support the work of HMCTS

Key Responsibilities to include:
Handling counter (face to face), written and telephone enquiries
To work as a team to ensure TIB (Team Information Board) meetings are relevant, timely and productive
Producing court/tribunal documents
General photocopying and filing
To deliver a helpful, prompt, polite and "right first time" service to our internal and external customers
Operating Office and court equipment
Resulting, checking accuracy and completeness against guidelines or a proforma, e.g. issuing jury payments
Preparing rooms for hearings, tribunals, trials, meetings and clearing the court / hearing room down at the end of the day

Candidate requirements:
Have previous experience within an administration role (preferable)
Have good IT skills
Be able to remain calm under pressure
Be a confident speaker
Be able to work with very confidential and sensitive information
Be able to provide 3 years of referencing and pass a enhanced DBS check


Standard hours are 37 hours, Monday - Friday (9-5)
Pay rate of £10.42 per hour which is paid weekly.
