Job Description

Brook Street is currently recruiting Court Ushers to work at Telford Justice Centre.

This is an ongoing temporary role working 37 hours per week, Monday to Friday.

The pay rate for under 25 years of age is £7.70 per hour. Over 25`s is £8.21 per hour.

Full training is provided and you will be working within a friendly and helpful team environment.

A Court Usher will need:

strong communication and people skills
the ability to deal with people in difficult or sensitive situations
calmness under pressure
administration skills

The duties of a Court Usher will include:

Preparing the courtroom for daily use
meeting and greeting court user and visitors
keeping people informed of changes to hearing times
checking that witnesses, defendants and lawyers are present
calling defendant and witnesses in to court
directing the taking of oaths
labelling evidence and passing to Judge and Jury
passing messages between lawyers and legal advisors
keeping order in the public areas
data entry, filing and photocopying

Due to the nature of the role, you will need to undergo security clearance and reference checks prior to commencing this position.
