Job Description
Court Usher - Southampton
Pay: £12.21 per hour | Temporary (initial 3 months, likely extension) | On-site role
We are recruiting for a Court Usher to support the smooth running of court hearings in Southampton. This is a vital public-facing role where you'll be the first point of contact for court users, ensuring hearings are well-organised and run efficiently.
The role:
Welcoming and supporting members of the public, legal representatives, and court users.
Preparing and clearing courtrooms for hearings.
Escorting participants and calling people into court in the correct order.
Handling administrative tasks such as filing, data entry, post handling, and updating records.
Supporting the judiciary and court staff with documents, forms, and clerical work.
Providing information to court users and dealing with enquiries in a professional and sensitive manner.
What we're looking for:
Strong communication and people skills, with the ability to stay professional under pressure.
Comfortable working with people from all backgrounds, including vulnerable individuals.
Basic IT and administration skills.
Previous public service or customer-facing experience is desirable.
Details:
Location: Southampton (must be fully on-site. On-site parking can be arranged).
Hours: Full-time (37 hours per week), temporary ongoing (initially 3 months, with likely extension).
Pay: £12.21 per hour.
- Clearance: The Court Usher role requires an enhanced disclosure check.
Interviews: On-site, face-to-face.
