Job Description

Please note, in the event office working is re-introduced, you must be within a one hour commute of one of the following HMRC offices (Birmingham, Edinburgh, Leeds, Liverpool, Manchester, Nottingham, Portsmouth, Preston, Newcastle or Washington)


Start dates will start from September 21st and then through September and October
Are you passionate about delivering excellent customer service and making a difference?
A number of exciting customer service opportunities have arisen on a temporary basis until the end March 2023.
Working for HMRC, the UK's tax, payments and customs authority, you will be helping to support a vital purpose: to collect the money that pays for the UK's public services and help families and individuals with targeted financial support.


Key Responsibilities:
- To provide a quality service through inbound telephony calls from customers
- Process post via HMRC's Digital Mail Service and work with customers on Web Chat
- Following guidance, updating systems and handling customer data sensitively
- Help and support customers with their questions / queries and escalating where necessary
- You will seek to resolve customer queries at the first point of contact where possible and use your brilliant communication skills to handle sometimes complex but rewarding conversations


What skills will I need?
- Ability to communicate well with customers on the telephone and via other communication channels
- Be a confident IT user, particularly use of MS Office packages
- A quiet work-space within your home and good broadband connectivity
- Ability to handle a variety of different conversations and challenging calls
- Ability to manage different tasks and work at a fast-pace
- Have a can-do attitude and a real passion for supporting people

An excellent package including:
- Temporary role until end of March 2023, with chance of being extended
- £11.71 per hour
- Accrual of up to 34 days paid annual leave pro rata available (inclusive of bank holidays)
- predominantly home-working assignment with all IT equipment supplied to carry out your role

Role Details:
You will be required to collect your IT kit from your closest office on day 1 and return your kit to the office upon completion of your temporary assignment. There may also be the requirement to attend the office from time to time so applicants must be comfortable to travel to one of these locations if required.
All applicants will undergo compliance checks including three years referencing, Right to Work in the UK and a DBS check.
