Job Description

We are looking for a temporary Cyber Security Analyst to support our client's Cyber Security Team within the Digital Department. This is a full time post and will be based in the office 2 days and 3 days at home (subject to review in September 2022 when it may revert to 3 days in the office and 2 days at home). Part time and flexible applications would be considered.

The current tenure of the assignment is for 3 - 12 months whilst they recruit to a permanent position. However, if this is unsuccessful, the assignment could be extended.

The post holder will be expected to:

  • Maintain knowledge of current and emerging cyber security threats.
  • Monitor changes in cyber security threats and appropriately respond to changes in threat profile.
  • Monitor cyber security services, systems and related infrastructure for signs of compromise.
  • Ensure that ICT assets and resources are protected from malicious software (i.e. malware) and other emerging threats.
  • Report on the patch status of ICT assets to ensure they are appropriately patched.
  • Identify and address any potential and actual vulnerabilities in applications, infrastructure, services, software and systems.
  • Continually assess options for the on-going and continuous improvement of cyber security throughout HEIW.
  • Review cyber security risks associated with all infrastructure components, supporting systems and services as related to users, processes and technology.
  • Assist the Cyber Security Team Lead and Head of Cyber Security & Information Assurance in ensuring compliance with the requirements set out in the Network and Information Systems Regulations.
  • Assist in the completion of cyber security assessments.
  • Conduct appropriate research to identify and evaluate cyber security capabilities and technologies as directed by the Cyber Security Team Lead, Head of Cyber Security & Information Assurance and Director of Digital.
  • Provide relevant cyber security advice, guidance and support to all HEIW stakeholders.
  • Develop cyber security standards, procedures, processes and guidelines based upon best practice, advice and guidance from professional bodies as well as theoretical knowledge.
  • Ensure effective disaster recovery plans and evidence of testing are in place for services provided.
  • Ensure effective business continuity plans are in place and tested for critical services.
  • Comply with relevant legislation in relation to the Data Protection Act 2018, General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), Governance, Caldicott principles, and confidentiality, Human Rights Act, Freedom of Information Act etc.
