Job Description

Our client currently based Canary Wharf is looking for a Data Protection Manager. They are a well known financial services company who are expanding their stance in the UK. As the successful applicant you will be joining the Risk Directorate. The Risk Directorate is made up of three teams and all function as part of the second line of defence. These three teams are Enterprise Risk, Information Security and Financial Crime Prevention.

You will be responsible for delivering the day to day operation of the Data Protection (DP) procedures in line with the Data Protection Policy.

The Key responsibilities of your role will include:

Delivering a number of data protection related deliverables as required under UK privacy legislation-detailed report writing
Advise on Data Protection compliance across the company and advice on legislative requirements relating to privacy and data protection.
Work with the Procurement team and general counsel directorate to ensure contracts have the appropriate data protection clauses as required.
Maintain the Records Management Policy in line with best practice, legislation, regulation and the changing needs
Development and Maintenance of the Records Management operations manual to ensure that all Records Management procedures are adequately identified
Regular interface with the Data protection function within 3rd parties, including Scheme Administrator and HR outsourcer.

My client is looking for a candidate with the following experience:

Ideally a detailed understanding of UK DPA, EU GDPR and UK Data Protection Bill- a legal background would be very useful.

Educated to degree level or equivalent.
Financial Services or large customer base experience
The ability to cope with multiple tasks/projects
The ability to explain complex technical requirements using clear and unambiguous language
Good advocacy skills to ensure that the organisation`s Data Protection requirements are taken seriously and adhered to
Strong stakeholder-management skills
The ability to see the big picture, as well as understand and challenge the detail when required.
