Job Description

** Children`s Residential Support Worker **
** Meldreth Nr.Royston, Hertfordshire**
** Children and Young People, Cerebral Palsy, Autism, Brain Injury, Degenerative Disorders **
** £17,055 - £19,042 / £8.41ph - £9.39ph **

** 7.30am - 9pm with an average of 39 hours per week on a 4 week rota pattern of 14 shifts typically requires working every other weekend with occasional night shifts **

BS Social Care are looking for a number of Support Workers to work within a children and young people`s residential home with severe and profound communication difficulties within the Hertfordshire/Cambridgeshire area.


About the employer; this employer is a privately ran organisation supporting children and young people aged 6-19 years with severe disabilities grow their education and life skills to live as independently as possible as they get older and to provide a safe, secure and happy environment for all being cared for. They are situated in Meldreth Nr.Royston in the Hertfordshire/Cambridgeshire boarder and currently undergoing a large refurbishment which will include upgraded learning and recreational areas, a new hydrotherapy pool and landscaped gardens and with multi-use activity areas.

About the job; you will support the service users with personal day to day care including - washing/dressing/helping with breakfast in the morning and completing care plans. You will work closely with teachers and therapy teams and support throughout day and recreational activities. This role will allow you to help enable each young person to engage and progress at their own level within a living and learning environment that will enrich the individual`s lives and helping everyone to achieve their full potential as they reach adulthood.

About the ideal candidate; ideally you will have a Health and Social Care Level 3 Diploma and basic First Aid knowledge however you will be considered and trained on this qualification if you do not already have it. Ideally have work or personal experience with friends or family members with severe communication, sensory or physical disabilities. Due to the nature of the role, you will be able to communicate effectively, have high resilience and patience, have good interpersonal skills, be a robust and positive person, have a creative side and be a team player. You will need to be flexible with being able to work on a shift pattern and cover occasional nights.

In return, this organisation will offer a permanent and full time contract paying £17,055 - £19,042 depending on experience and qualifications. They will offer you a 4 week induction programme and some shadowing the children and young people both in their homes and school. You will complete the Children`s Workforce Development Council workbook in order to pass probation. You will also receive additional training as you progress through your roles.
