Job Description

The Digital Learning Manager is responsible for providing, managing and promoting the use of digital technologies to support, enhance and develop learning and teaching throughout the UK Contracts provision. Working closely with the Education Advisers and Programme Management teams, the DLM plays a key role in supporting implementation of the learning and teaching strategy, combining a deep understanding of Teacher Professional Development with the ability to encourage and inspire innovative approaches.

  • To collaborate with the internal programme teams and external suppliers to oversee ongoing development of the online learning platforms within an agreed timeframe, budget, and quality
  • Work with suppliers to lead on improvements to our Learning Management Systems (LMS). Including:
    • Managing day to day relationships with our suppliers and central team to agree changes needed to our LMS
    • Input from a UX and accessibility perspective
    • Managing the development and implementation of new functionality
    • Developing training materials (written and video) for internal colleagues, our network of delivery partners and end users as appropriate
    • Compile FAQs
    • Support Delivery Partnerships Team and Programme Management teams on responding to end user queries.
    • Ensure all activities are documented and ready for handover
  • To lead our User Acceptance Training (UAT), creating test scripts for all user types based on client requirement
  • Manage relationships with external suppliers and service providers to ensure compliance with contracts within best value principles. Working with colleagues from IT and programme teams to identify approved suppliers or new partnerships
  • To determine appropriate formats, structure, and design of programme materials, utilising the online learning platform and an authoring tool
  • Support our digital learning design through the development of interactive online materials from planning to publication stage
  • :
    • Developing training materials (written and video) for the central team and our network of delivery partners
    • Create short training guides for our portal users
    • Hold live training sessions and drop-ins
    • Act as first contact for system users
    • Compile FAQs

Essential:

  • A solid understanding of learning theories and instructional technology
  • Proficient understanding of Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 accessibility guidelines
  • Awareness of digital design principles; re-use, UX, accessibility
  • Understanding of software development tools, testing methodologies, application and database performance, web services technologies
  • Excellent knowledge of Totara or Moodle, Microsoft Office365, and other software packages
  • Experience of eLearning specifications, particularly SCORM and xAPI
  • Experience of setting up and managing data within a Learning Records System

Desirable:

  • Strong communication skills with the ability to lead the workstream and engage effectively with others, both internally and externally
  • Good stakeholder management skills, in particular third-party engagement to ensure an excellent working relationship with our technical providers
  • Be organised and efficient with previous experience in a technical role and possess excellent communication skills

  • Working knowledge of MS Dynamics
  • Evidence of successfully working in a team
  • Project Management experience, working within a framework like Prince 2
  • Understanding of various project management methodologies and experience working with their frameworks
