Job Description

Northamptonshire Police are recruiting for up to 6 Disclosure Assistants to assist the Major Incident Disclosure Officer.

Purpose of the Role.
To assist the Major Incident Disclosure Officer in assessing physical and electronic material for relevance under the Criminal Procedures and Investigations Act 1996.
To apply the Disclosure Tests to relevant material in accordance with the Senior Investigating Officer's and Disclosure officer's strategies.

Main Responsibilities.

1. The triage and assessment of unused material held within the Major Incident Room investigation for relevance to the matters under investigation.
2.The expeditious assessment, marking and preservation of unused material that might support the defence or undermine any prosecution case in accordance with CPIA 1996 and the Attorney General's guidelines.
3. To quickly become proficient in the operation of the investigative software to necessary to facilitate the selection and processing of relevant data.
4. To maintain proper records of all activity undertaken and rationale for decisions made.

Person Specification;
1. Previous experience of as an investigator or analyst within a criminal investigation.
2. A working knowledge of the Criminal Procedures and Investigations Act 1996, code of practice and the Attorney General's Disclosure Guidelines.
3. Computer literacy and proven ability to use IT systems.
4. Must be able to maintain motivation whilst working alone with minimal face to face supervision.
5. Must be able to analyse information and make sound decisions based on professional judgement and consideration of all known relevant factors.
6. Must be able to work accurately with attention to detail, whilst undertaking repetitive tasks.
7. Must be able to organise and prioritise own workload.

These positions offer flexible working hours at the candidates' choice and the ability to work from home, both of these are subject to passing training.
The hourly rate of pay for these roles is £12.04 p/h working a 37 hour week.
