Job Description

** Domestic Abuse Practitioner **
** Northampton, Northamptonshire **
** This is a 1-year fixed term post in the first instance**
** To work flexibly 37 hours per week worked over 5 days. Some unsocial/out of hours/evening work will be required, including the provision of On Call Buddy support to the out of hours team on a rota basis **
** £21,135 - £21,500 per year **

BS Social Care are recruiting for a Domestic Abuse Practitioner within the Northampton area of Northamptonshire to work with women and men who find themselves within an abusive relationship. This role is a full time and permanent role working 37 hours per week with some flexibility needed. For this role, it is essential that you have hands on employment experience of domestic abuse work experience for over 2 years.

About the employer; this employer is a Charity based in Northampton that offer free services to women and their children to support them through domestic violence and lead the lives they want to live. Alongside working with men who use coercive and controlling behaviours, enabling them to change their values, beliefs and attitudes to prevent further domestic abuse from happening. They offer a refuge to women and children to ensure they are in a safe, supporting environment to those who need it most.

About the job; this role is a very interesting and can at times be intense due to the nature of the needs from your service users. You will work between the Operations Manager and the Domestic Abuse Coordinators. You will work within people's homes and the community giving face to face services from safety plans for both the woman and the children, benefits, housing escape plans, trauma groups, court hearings and more. You will be a safety net for the people that need your services, you will be a sound board and you will be a link to the outside world which the service user feels trapped from.

About the ideal candidate; for this role, there are many personal attributes that you would require such as kind, caring, warm and welcoming. You will also need at least 2 years of domestic abuse work experience and/or a domestic violence qualification. It will be ideal that you are a driver to move around as and when needed within the day.

For this full time and permanent role, a salary of £21,135 - £21,500 per year will be offered alongside other benefits that will be discussed during interview.
