Job Description

To manage the editorial process on JCT publications as allocated (mainly online, but also potentially print and CD), to agreed deadlines and cost limits.

Major Responsibilities / Accountabilities:
" Using document automation technology to create and update JCT publications as allocated.
" Copy-editing and proof checking.
" Regression testing of JCT documents (content and functionality).
" Maintaining and enhancing relations with internal and external contacts.
" Working on and checking complex JCT logic documents
" Liaising as appropriate with Manager and key contacts so that the editorial process takes place smoothly and efficiently, and reporting as appropriate on progress.
" Achieving the required standards of quality, time control and cost:
" Quality - To maintain good standards in mark up and corrections for both own and freelanced work
" Time - To maintain the production schedule as agreed for all products. To provide the earliest possible warning of schedule slippage, and to work with internal and external contacts to recover lost time and prevent further slippage as far as possible.
" Cost - To manage and control corrections so as to minimise extra costs.


Mandatory Skills and Experience:

" Excellent proofreading skills and attention to detail
" Experience of working in XML or similar mark-up language.
" Time management-prioritising tasks to achieve deadlines
" Ability to communicate effectively and build sound working relationships with varied people, i.e. colleagues (including Sales colleagues), freelances and legal professionals
" Education/ Certifications Required:
o Degree (or commensurate experience).
o Publishing or legal qualification (desirable).
" Ability to adapt quickly to new technologies and software

Desirable Skills and Experience:

" Experience in an editorial role, working on a wide range of titles including digital products, or other relevant experience.
" Experience of document automation software
