Job Description

Electronic Equipment Engineer DCD, Cardiff

Hours: Monday to Friday 9:00 AM to 5:30 PM (37.5 hours weekly, 1-hour lunch)

Salary: £19,000 + 23 days Holiday Entitlement in addition to bank holidays.

Purpose of the Electronic Equipment Engineer (EPOS ENGINEER DCD):

To repair bar code scanners and data capture devices to ensure a sufficient level of stock is available for field engineers to replace customer equipment as required.

The main features of Electronic Equipment Engineer (EPOS ENGINEER DCD):

  • Carry our repairs of scanning and data capture devices to component level.
  • Keep accurate records of customer equipment returned for warranty and fourth party repair on company database.
  • Document test and fix procedures.
  • Investigate fault trends.
  • Source and act in an advisory capacity on components for replacement.
  • Help develop colleagues through mentoring and on the job training.
  • Plan the introduction of new products to the department and profile stock requirements in conjunction with the operations manager.
  • Maintain communication with other departments to ensure effective relationships.
  • Research the DCD industry to keep abreast of new technologies and report any potential threats or opportunities.
  • Adhere to housekeeping and health and safety standards to ensure a safe working environment is maintained for all employees within the department.
  • Be flexible to move to other areas of the department when required to meet customer needs.

ESSENTIAL SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:

  • Knowledge of repairing of PCs and or/peripheral hardware within an appropriate industry and able to transfer the skills to repair the equipment in the repair centre
  • Interpersonal skills to work with other departments and team members
  • Competent computer user
  • Flexible and willing to work beyond usual business hours and especially in short notice situations

DESIRABLE SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:

  • Qualification in Electronic Servicing/Engineering or qualified by experience
  • Experience of repairing EPOS DCD and peripheral hardware
  • Experience of repairing DCD and peripheral software
