Job Description

We currently have a fantastic opportunity for someone with a real passion for the environment to join our Government client as a Permitting Officer. The role is paying £11.66 for a full time role (37 hours a week).

The main purpose of this role is to determine applications for water quality environmental permits to meet Government regulatory obligations. We are looking for an individual to assist one of the Specialists in a specific project to update and improve the project water quality.

Your main duties will include but not be restricted to:
" Determining applications for permits and issuing, refusing or varying permits according to time and budget
" Issuing permits following training and support from colleagues in the Permitting Support Centre in Sheffield
" Translating of permit information onto electronic systems
" Producing records of actions and outcomes
" Producing and providing regular progress information to managers
" Using house systems, using data manipulation and accuracy
" Providing administrative support to the waste quality regime
" Developing and maintaining effective customer relationships

The main skills required for this role include good communication skills, the ability to work to tight deadlines and under pressure. The ability to work unsupervised (but guided), good administration and data inputting skills, problem solving and good data interpretation

A good eye for detail and the ability to work under pressure are essential for this role. A degree in a related field would also be a very strong advantage (Environmental Sciences degree, Conservation or Geography degree, etc…)

There is no parking available on site however; there is great public transport links. Both trains and buses are only a 5 minute walk away!
